UI Designer — I led the website concept and structure, created the full layout in Figma, and developed the tone of voice together with the client. I was responsible for translating the brand’s military-educational mission into a visually bold and clear online presence.
2 weeks — including research, iterations, and full design delivery.
In this case study, I explore the process of designing a website for Backyard Camp — a civilian and veteran-focused tactical training initiative. The goal was to create a clear, credible, and emotionally grounded web presence that reflects the dual nature of the project: intense yet inclusive.
This design process involved strategic research, visual experimentation, and UX structure testing, all tailored to a unique audience that values both resilience and community.
The Backyard Camp website was designed as a digital extension of a training community built on values of responsibility, preparedness, and shared mission. The design process focused on structuring content for new visitors, ensuring intuitive navigation, and conveying the spirit of the camp through both visuals and words.
Present a sensitive subject (firearm culture) in a way that feels both responsible and inclusive.
I used clean layouts, assertive but non-aggressive language, and subtle social proof to establish trust while avoiding over-glorification.

The Camp Page plays a key role in converting interest into action. Its structure was built to clearly communicate training value, requirements, and logistics — all while guiding users toward registration. The goal was to maintain a confident, tactical tone while ensuring high content clarity and visual hierarchy.
While not tracked through hard data, qualitative feedback has shown increased user understanding of the training scope, improved trust in the organizers, and a higher rate of registration intent during verbal feedback.
